Rural communities in the Peruvian Andes rely on surface water to survive. Just like their ancestors, women get in the river to do the laundry and socialize; but unfortunately, waters are contaminated in the process. But it is an ancient tradition that can’t be simply wiped out. Awa attempt to solve this problem by providing aprobiotic-packed soap bar that turns harmfull practice into a systematic decontamination process: the microorganisms released by Awa soap bars feed on river pollutants like nitrate and ammonia, effectively washing clothes and the water at the same time.
